Vampire and Wolf Contacts for Halloween - Guest Post

Thanks to Twilight, True Blood, Vampire Diaries, and all of the other popular supernatural media right now, some of the hottest items for Halloween are special effects contacts. What do you need to know about getting contacts to make the perfect Halloween costume?

First, special effects contacts are available by prescription only in the United States. This is due to the Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act. The good news is that this same law requires whoever prescribed your contacts to give a copy of your prescription to you so that you can order them wherever you want. Your prescriber has 8 business hours to verify the prescription or it is automatically verified. You only need to provide the contact information for your prescriber when you place your order.

Second, because of the nature of special effects contacts, the earlier you order them the better. They only come in the most popular sizes and sell out quickly during the Halloween season. You won’t get your money refunded if they do not make it to you by Halloween so order them well in advance to avoid being disappointed.

Now to the fun part. What kind of contacts can you get? The most popular right now are vampire red (think “thirsty Volturi”), gold/amber (perfect for vegetarian Cullens), and black out (a nice look for wolves). Each of them is dark enough that it should completely block out your natural eye color. However, it is possible that they will look different on different people. The video below will give you an idea as to how the contacts will actually look when you are wearing them. Coastal Contacts has a great selection but you can also get them from places like Vision Direct.

Prices run around $30 for each eye but you can find some good coupons and free shipping offers if you look around. They are not cheap, but vampire contacts can take an ordinary costume and make it extraordinary. Then you can always keep them and wear them when you go see Breaking Dawn or have a Vampire Diaries finale party.
